



Key Personnel
At CDI Industrial & Mechanical Contractors, we are proud of our skills and abilities, but most of all we are proud of our people. Our staff has years of expertise and training in their fields.
Edward L. Raby, President:
Ed has been with CDI for 26 years. He started out with his pipefitter apprenticeship from August 1977 through August 1981and has been a CDI team leader. He has experienced a wide variety of industrial piping and control system installations including chemical, food, petroleum, power, paper and wastewater. He is very knowledgeable in various exotic metallurgy including carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel, monel, inconel, hastelloy, chrome-moly, aluminum and titanium.
As Ed's career advanced, he became General Superintendent, supervising skilled trade personnel, installation procedures and safety programs through all field superintendents and craft supervisors at multiple locations. He has managed numerous projects ranging to $37 million, supervising as many as 300 skilled trade personnel on one site. As General Superintendent, Ed also acted as liaison between the company and union business agents including negotiation of skilled craft dispute issues.
In 1988, Ed, given the opportunity for partnership in CDI, accepted the position of Vice-President and was elected to the board of directors. As Vice-President, he assumed responsibility for direct supervision of sales, design, engineering, planning and all phases of constructability.
Now, under new ownership, Ed continues his career as President of CDI.
Bill Nachbar, General Superintendent:
Bill has extensive experience in exotic metals and supervises shop and skilled trade personnel in welding and installation of hastelloy, inconel, titanium, chrome, nickel and stainless steel alloy projects. His expertise is a result of his exposure to and management of fast track, complicated construction projects and short-term plant shutdown type work in various manufacturing facilities.
Bill has been employed by CDI since he began a pipefitter apprenticeship in 1975. His talents were quickly recognized and he advanced to pipefitter foreman in the fall of 1979 after completing his apprenticeship in August of the same year. In 1980, Bill assisted with the code weld testing that enabled CDI to become a certified code welding shop. 1989 brought a new opportunity to Bill with a partnership in CDI when he was elected to the Board of Directors the same year. The year 2006 will mark 31 years of service with CDI.
Management of civil and general construction projects, including hazardous material containment, pilings, drainage systems, as well as, buildings and structural steel applications rounds out Bill's mechanical experience. A natural at team leadership, Bill also schedules manpower and resources for CDI's plant maintenance contracts and many ongoing projects.
Brian White, Sales & Project Manager:
Brian graduated from Pittsburg State University in December of 1985 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He spent two years gaining experience as an entry level Project Engineer and Estimator, prior to joining CDI in June 1987. Since joining CDI, Brian has rounded out his background with projects in food grade process systems, conveyor systems, pharmaceutical, bulk material handling systems, rail and truck unloading stations, piggable line systems, steam and condensate systems, boiler installations, grass roots building projects, as well as, the day-to-day maintenance related work in manufacturing plants. Brian has also become well experienced in structural design, layout, fabrication and erection. 2003 brought a new opportunity to Brian in CDI when he was elected to the Board of Directors.
Brian's plan and specification work along with his attention to customer needs has proven him to be a valued asset to our team. The year 2007 marks 20 years of service for Brian.
Mark Raby, Project Management / Scheduler:
Mark graduated from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Missouri with a degree in Construction Science-Management Technology in the spring of 1997. While in college, Mark worked as an Engineering Assistant Intern, working with civil engineers in project cost estimating, topographic surveying, and differential leveling, and assisted in developing construction layouts. Mark also has experience working as a laborer. Prior to his engineering assistant internship, he worked for CDI assisting the fabrication Shop Manager in the repair of tools and equipment.
Mark's education, enthusiasm and creativity have proven him to be a valued member of CDI's construction management team.
Marion Renner, Project Management
Marion graduated from the University of Missouri in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering. During his career, Marion has worked for Oil Refineries, Paper Converting Plants, Food Plants, Engineering Consultants, and Construction Companies. While at these companies, Marion has served as a Project Manager, Construction Manager, Facilities Manager, Construction Engineer, Plant Engineer, and Estimator. Marion brings to CDI a wide knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Civil Engineering, Food Plants, and Manufacturing Processes. Marion’s latest two projects include building an $8mm Food Plant Expansion, and a $14mm Corporate Office and Laboratory Complex.
Ron Morris, Safety Director & Human Resources Manager:
Ron has a degree in Psychology, a minor in Sports Medicine, and is certified in Paramedicine (NREMT-P) from New Mexico State University. Ron has been a Safety Director and Manager in the safety, health, environmental, OSHA & MSHA compliance and risk management field for 17 years. Ron has been with CDI since 1993 and has contributed his experience and talents to our safety and health, OSHA & MSHA compliance and risk management programs. As Safety Director, Ron knows the importance of staying abreast of the operational and regulatory information necessary to maintain a safe work place and minimize risk. Ron is an OSHA & MSHA Certified Instructor that handles the training and regulatory requirements that go far beyond the Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements.
