Safety Vision Statement

CDI was formed in 1973 to provide specialized mechanical services to one Fortune 500 customer in the chemical process industry. The company expanded based on customer needs and became a prime mechanical contractor with emphasis on the industrial side of consumer products, food and beverage, refinery, chemical process and power markets.

The late 1970s provided steady growth for CDI and a repeat customer base began to develop through quality construction and cost effective construction management. As the company's customer base expanded, plant maintenance became a steady source of income. By 1989, our annual sales volume had grown from $3 million (in 1973) to $7 million annually. In 2002, our annual sales volume was $19 million. Currently, in 2006, our volume was $21 million.

In the early 1990s, CDI diversified into design/construct projects. The addition of an A.S.M.E. stamp brought with it design, repair and manufacture of tanks and pressure vessels built to customer specifications and the addition of an A.S.M.E. certified welding inspector.

Today, we offer our customers a full range of services, including an A.S.M.E. Certification (U, S, and R Stamps), A.S.M.E. vessel fabrication, piping systems of all types & most all materials, structural steel fabrication and steel erection, civil and concrete work, insulation, electrical, specialty coatings, instrumentation, architectural and general contracting. In addition, we continue to provide mechanical contracting services, specializing in industrial process systems, many of which utilize exotic metals.

CDI was awarded "Outstanding Mechanical Installation" for 1987-1988 by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Greater Kansas City. CDI was awarded again "Outstanding Mechanical Installation" for 1991-1992 by the Pipefitters and Air Conditioning Council of Greater Kansas City at Proctor & Gamble. CDI was awarded "Outstanding Mechanical Installation" for 1997-1998 by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Greater Kansas City at Ford Motor Company. CDI received the "Outstanding Mechanical installation" award for 1999-2000 by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Greater Kansas City at Bayer. CDI was the recipient of the 2003-2004 "Outstanding Mechanical Contractors Award".  CDI received it for the Bayer JAU project.
